What's a Quick learn?
Love the idea of unschooling but not quite sure how to implement it in your homeschool? Looking for an alternative to the low grade clerical work that passes for curriculum?
Quick Learns help guide you with open ended activities aimed at encouraging creativity. Each Quick Learn is designed to guide students through a short, open ended activity. They introduce students to new skills and software which they can choose to further explore with our longer form 'Project Files'
In this Quick Learn:
Become an architect and design the most amazing dwelling you can imagine using mostly natural materials.
The Challenge for kids:
Take inspiration from an Episode of Building Off the Grid and get your hands dirty constructing your ultimate dwelling.
Most buildings are boring. There is not a lot of variation in color, materials, and shape. It's time to change this.
Design a unique structure that you'd want to spend time in then build a model version.
Expand your tech stack by using Canva to create a housing flyer or Premiere to edit a house tour video. Share your finished model with friends and family or the Corgi Ledger Community.
Duration:
The recommended length for this project is 3 weeks:
1 week of planning
1 week of building
1 week preparing to share your model in some way.
You'll get a PDF guide that leads your student through the process of designing and building a model dwelling. Students will practice planning, hands on building, and photography/videography.
